MUMBAI: Close on the heels of the announcement of a new head, Nickelodeon now boasts of entering the ratings game as the second longest watched channel amongst kids over the last three weeks (Week 40 to Week 42, daypart 07:00 - 22:00, 4-14 ABC, HSM1L+ markets).
The latest Tam data suggests that specific to this week (ie.Week 42, 15 - 21 October) Nick has squeezed itself into the second spot with timespent/viewer (TS/V) as being 162.05 minutes. However, the timespent/universe (TS/U), tells a different story as Nick slips to the fifth position with 22.2 minutes.
Hungama TV heads the pack, while the Disney Channel has overtaken the two players from the Turner stable, Cartoon Network and Pogo.

Los Angeles, May 20 (PTI) A month after Robert Downey Jr revealed that the third "Sherlock Holmes" movie is being planned, producer Joel Silver confirms that the film, to be directed by Guy Ritchie, could start its production later this year.

Silver, originally promoting "The Nice Guys" in an interview, supported Downey claim and also hinted that more "Sherlock Holmes" movies may arrive in the future, reported Ace Showbiz.

"It looks like it could happen this fall. Downey said he wants to do it. He's gotta launch into another 'Avengers' movie right after the new year. So we're trying to get it done," Silver said.

"We have a script that we like. Jude Law is available and Downey is available, and we're hoping we can get it done. If it works, great. If not, we'll do it another time. But it looks like it could happen now."

Downey Jr, Law and Ritchie's respective schedules have been one big problem that keeps "Sherlock Holmes 3" from happening.

Downey Jr has been busy with his role as Tony Stark a.k.a. "Iron Man" in Marvel's movies while Law and director Ritchie are working on "Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur".

Seamless updates on Android N will not be coming to existing smartphones

$

Google had announced plenty of new features for Android N at I/O 2016. While it’s event in general failed to impress many this year, the plethora of new features made up for this. Among the announcements were some new features that we got to know about Android N, with the new seamless updates feature that seems to have gotten the attention of many. But as Android Police found out, the same feature will not be available for existing smartphones when it rolls out later this year.

Google at its announcement did forget to mention the word ‘new’. This is because the feature will work only with devices that come with two partitions.

The Seamless updates feature requires two partitions to work. Simply put, one remains online and the other offline. When new firmware updates arrive, the updates are installed on the offline partition. When the device reboots, the partitions are switched delivering an updated smartphone to the user, while the older partition now goes offline and ready to receive updates.
According to the same source, creating two partitions on your existing smartphone will require too much work, one that Google does not recommend since it could risk damaging a device.

So similar to Google’s VR-friendly Daydream, interested users will have to make a switch to a newer device in order to use the handy feature.
